UK Tour 2008 Siam Stage at WOMAD Workshops

One of Cuba’s top folkloric groups, Rumberos de Cuba has been described as having “some of the best and most engaging musicians and dancers from the barrios of Havana”, many of them former members of the Conjunto Folklorico Nacional de Cuba.

Brought to the UK for the first time by Cubacheche, Rumberos de Cuba offered a ravishing display of colourful costumes, Orisha dances, folk music, and Afro-Cuban songs to tell the stories of men and gods as seen through the eyes of the Cuban people after centuries of cultural mixing.

Following their 3-week 2008 tour, including an appearance at the acclaimed WOMAD festival, Rumberos de Cuba have been described as “a Santeria storm”, a dazzling spectacle and an unmissable experience even for those less enlightened into the mysteries of Afro-Cuban culture.
