Nearly 3,000 Cubans have made London their home over the past decade and many of these settlers are linked one way or another to the world of culture, so perhaps there is some truth underlying the myth that Cubans carry their music and art deep within their veins.

Cuban musicians, writers, dancers, artists, and choreographers infuse the London cultural scene with the flavour of their Caribbean island. But, sadly, we speak of isolated events. Cubans living in London lack a place where they can interact as a community, a place where they can reinvent the Cuban alleys sizzling with the rhythm of drums and guitars, rum and dominoes.

El Rumbon Cubano was created to give the Cuban community in London a much needed space where nostalgia can be transformed into creative energy and the British audience transported to the intricate barrios of Havana where Cuban culture is in the making. So, to old and new friends of Cuban culture, welcome to El Rumbon Cubano.

El Rumbon Cubano takes place on the second Sunday of every month, featuring live music and/or dance performances. Recent bands have included Cuban Combination at our Christmas party in December, London's best rumba group Dilanga in March, and the fantastic Son Mas at our 2nd anniversary party in April.
